Description Indications Hyperthyroidism, Iodine-induced thyrotoxicosis, Thyroid storm Administration Methimazole is usually given in 3 equal doses at approximately 8 hours intervals. Adult: Initial dose of 15mg to 60 mg daily, may be given in divided doses or as a single dose. In Euthyroid patients: The usual dose is 5mg to 15mg daily. Maintenance dose: 5mg to 15mg daily. Children: Initial dose is 400mcg per kg body weight, for maintenance, this dose may be halved, or as directed by a physician. Administer with a meal. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to methimazole or any component of the formulation. Refer to manufacturer labeling for further details.
